Nice review! Would you recommend this book for people who don't have a background in software engineering or similar fields? From your review it sounds like it might be too technical for a layperson, if even you found the technical depth a bit overwhelming

I would say yes - at least the first 3 chapters (which comprise the first of three major sections of the book and is easily the strongest). The book likes to start simply with its concepts and build up incrementally, so even someone who doesn't have a technical background should be able to follow along. The later chapters are where one can easily get lost in the weeds.
